         The Integrated Strategic Energy Technology (SET) Plan adopted by the commission identifies 10 key Actions where research and innovation is needed. Among these key actions, Action 6 aims at ‘making EU industry less energy intensive and more competitive’.

         Specific new ‘Activities’ have been defined in the Action 6 implementation plan to contribute to the targets; they will involve European and National projects conducted in cooperation in several EU Member States and SET Plan Associated Countries in the field of energy and resource efficiency in industry.

         Tenders will contribute to realising the implementation plan (including developing areas and project ideas into actual projects) and to enhance synergies between European and National R&I programmes in EU Member States and SET Plan Associated Countries in the field of energy and resource efficiency and CO2 emissions reduction in industry, as well as supporting the Action 6 working group in updating the strategy.

         The contractor will concentrate on helping to run the actual work of the working group – from a logistical and administrative perspective and on substance. The contractor will play an important role in processing ideas coming from working group members and developing them into discussion or final documents – and helping with their implementation. The contractor will do so in coordination with the leadership of the working group and with input from the commission services, according to the modalities to be decided during inception phase.
