        Het doel van deze opdracht is de uitvoering van een instandhoudingsbeheer van het heidelandschap via schapenbegrazing in diverse domeinen van Natuur en Bos van de Vlaamse Overheid

        Het betreft hier gevarieerde heidelandschapen als zandduinen met open zand, droge en natte heide, vennen en bossen. Het betreft hier ecologisch zeer waardevolle habitats die veelal Europees beschermd zijn met een bijzondere fauna en flora.

        De opdracht omvat het uitvoeren van het begrazingsbeheer met schapen waarbij volgende acties worden ondernomen:

        — begrazing van pijpenstrootje (Molinia caerulea) voor het tegengaan en terugdringen van vergrassing,

        — begrazing van struik- en boomopslag om verbossing tegen te gaan (betreft hier vooral berk en den,

        — begrazing van struikhei (Calluna vulgaris) voor het behoud en/of ontwikkelen van struktuurrijke heide.

        De begrazing gebeurt met een kudde van 300 schapen (zie verder) en kan plaatsvinden binnen alle domeinen van de regios Tunrhoutse Kempen en Netebronnen-Zuiderkempen.

        Echter zal in eerste instantie op de grens binnen de regio Netebronnen-zuiderkempen en Tunrhoutse Kempen begraasd worden waar de te begrazen domeinen dicht bij elkaar liggen. In regel kan de kudde hierdoor al hoedend naar het volgende gebied geleid worden.

        De begrazing gebeurt met een kudde van 300 schapen (zie verder) binnen de regio Netebronnen-zuiderkempen en Turnhoutse Kempen. De te begrazen domeinen liggen hier ver uit elkaar. Binnen het werkgebied moeten hierdoor een 8 tal gemotoriseerde verplaatsingen gemaakt worden. De kosten van het aantal te maken verplaatsingen met een volledige kudde wordt door de opdrachtgever vergoed (zie verder).
